Our Mission
We provide compassionate treatment to all forms of the disease of chemical dependency. Turningpoint Clinic implements the Neurotransmitter Restoration (NTR) detoxification program of intravenous solutions of amino acids, vitamins and minerals. NTR is administered in conjunction with the established therapeutic approaches to phychsocial and spiritual components of addiction.
The Fact
Addiction is both physical and behavioral. Chemical dependency is a brain disease, a psychological disease, and a spiritual disease. Addressing only portions of the disease components is a treatment plan neglects critical areas of need for a patient, and does not maximize the recovery potential for those trapped in addiction. Treatment programs often acknowledge that addiction is a medical disease of the brain; however, treatment plans seldom address treatment for the brain. Turningpoint Clinic is fully committed to threefold treatment plans that give each patient the greatest opportunity for lifelong recovery.
Acknowledging the Brain Disease
The "Reward Deficiency Syndrome" speaks to the hereditary chemical imbalances wherein the pleasure centers, which regulate feeling of general well being in the brain, fail to receive appropriate neural signals; consequently, the neurotransmitters send out urgent messages of craving. In the brains of addicts, various neurotransmitters are affected, depending upon the drug or drugs that have been used. As a result, you experience difficulty concentration and have mood swings, for example, as well as having other physical symptoms. Collectively, these symptoms are called "cravings" and "withdrawals". Craving and withdrawal symptoms are a result of a neurochemical imbalance in the brain. This imbalance is the brain disease portion of addiction.
Restoring Balance to the Brain
Neurotransmitter Restoration was based in part, on extensive research of the Reward Deficiency Syndrome. NTR is an alternative treatment, administered by a licensed medical staff. Patients are given intravenous solutions of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, in individually formulated amounts, over a period of ten days. Specially trained and licensed nurses, under the direct supervision of physicians, administer each treatment. Treatment is on an outpatient basis.
NTR is a drug-free detoxification. Some patients report mild flu like symptoms, while others report no symptoms at all. Neurotransmitter regulation is improved and drug craving is greatly reduced, if not eliminated.
Restoring Psychosocial Balance
The 10-day detoxification and Restoration program includes life skills work with the staff. Aftercare includes consultations with a therapist or a 12-step program to address the psychological and behavioral healing of the this disease.
NTR Development
NTR was developed by Dr. William Hitt, award-winning and pioneering scientist, in the mid-1980's after a lifetime of research involving amino acids. Dr. Hitt completed his research using NTR in Mexico at the invitation of the Mexican Government and with the support of the World Health Organization. In its initial clinical application, approximately 3,000 patients were treated using NTR with a documented recovery rate three years ater treatment of 70 percent. This is an astonishing increase successful treatment over traditional treatment programs.
Our Staff
All Turningpoint Clinic professional employees have trained with Dr. William Hitt and his medical staff. Our staff is qualified, highly trained and compassionate physicians, counselors, therapists, and nurses.
Our Location
